I want social justice, so I am happy to pay taxes for public education and healthcare.” Clearly the students who claim to be egoists have no idea that Capitalism is the only system under which individual rights can be protected. All other systems uphold the ideas of suicide and mass murder(the degree can change but the main principle- the morality based on altruism remains the same).. But the teacher explained capitalism correctly..Unfortunately not many people are like her and they hardly know anything about capitalism..Even the defenders advocate capitalism by coming up with arguments regarding how it is profitable as compared to other systems and it is justifiable because it is for common good etc.. Well yeah..Capitalism if practiced, is the only system based on justice which can do common good..But that is the consequence of it..Capitalism is the only correct system because it is based on recognition and protection of individual rights in social context...it increases the living standard, makes everyone rich etc are the consequences of capitalism.. Ayn Rand is absolutely correct to say that the downfall of Capitalism (in-spite of it being the only system based on its governing principle as justice), is not because of its opposers but because of its alleged defenders..Capitalism can be defended only on its moral-philosophical grounds..One cant defend it by evading the question regarding its founding principle and its philosophical roots according to which it is the only correct system ethically and after that the consequences can be stated..
