Verbatim copy of what I managed to jam into the 4,000 characters - TopicsExpress

Verbatim copy of what I managed to jam into the 4,000 characters max boxes in the Sears survey I just got asked to take. Can someone PLEASE take the time to read this and not just redirect me to the same unresponsive email address I was provided with last time? Not related directly to this most recent experience rather my over all experience with Sears/Sears card. When I first signed up for my card there were 2 card options presented however they were incorrectly described. The associate basically stated that one card was for use at Sears only and the other could be used as a regular credit card. My original reason for applying for the card was so I could take advantage of a great clearance deal on discontinued weights. I did not want a regular credit card as I was trying to avoid racking up too much debt. After using what is apparently an appliance card to make multiple purchases at multiple locations, for appliances and OTHER merchandise alike, I was taken aback one day when a somewhat hostile manager got in my face (at the request of a cashier whod just informed me for the first time that my card type was only meant for appliance purchases) and told me that I was not allowed to use my card for the items I was trying to get. (shoes and shorts) Not only was he very unapologetic, he lectured me till he was red in the face but failed to force me to sign up for the Master Card version and in the end gave up on his customer is always wrong attitude. I have since gotten the evil eye from this guy any time I have returned to that location (same one I got the card from in the first place) Tri-County Mall Cincinnati, OH. Fast forward a year or two, I lost my job and had a hard time making payments for a while... despite having initially made sizable payments and on time, the reality of my new situation made that somewhat difficult. I thought I doing well at least making my minimum payments, usually on time... So I was slightly shocked when I discovered that my limit had been cut from $1200 to $400... I felt that this was a slight overreaction and that if anything a bad move on behalf of Sears. I believe I received some notice in the mail mentioning the decision was based on a credit check... which to my understanding hurts my already unemployment damaged credit score. These 2 situations combined may have caused me to put paying my Sears card bill lower on my list of priorities... Then the phone calls started... no less than twice a day someone from Sears would call my moms house trying to collect, regardless of the amount. Calling the house every day until a $50 (half minimum payment, half late fee) payment was received, yet again something that seemed slightly unnecessary but the best was yet to come... One day after getting sick of hearing the phone ring (after Id already explained my employment and financial situation and asked not to be called again) with the caller ID reading out a long 800 number, I decided to pick up the phone. What followed was probably the most ridiculous customer service I have ever received. One of your representatives made the suggestions that I either ask a family member to borrow money so I could make a payment or if I could sell one of my personal belongings EXCUSE ME? I fail to see how that is anyones business! I have made this event known previously on the Sears Facebook page and was redirected to an HR email or something. I emailed in my complaint but failed to reply to the TIME SENSITIVE email in time... Following the instructions in said email, I requested 2 or 3 times to have my case reopened but to no avail. Bringing us to the call Im being surveyed about... where I found out that I was a buck and some change short of making the due amount and decided that rather than throw 80 bucks into a hole while I again find myself without a job, that Id rather go buy some food. Additionally, I found it a bit odd that the cashier whom Id asked for the card services phone number to inquire about my balance wasnt sure she was giving me the correct number and couldnt tell me if I could access my account from one of your in store computers. No, no, she was too busy trying to get my girlfriend to sign up for a Sears card.
