Very curious reactions to William Clay Ford Sr.s death - even Drew Sharp wrote a thoughtful column. From all accounts Mr. Ford was a thoughtful man and an active philanthropist, but I struggle with lionizing an extremely wealthy man who was born into his wealth as being extremely generous while many everyday people are extremely philanthropic within their own means. Yes, he could have kept every last nickel to himself and he chose instead to donate to many great causes, but it seems easier to do that when you have the means. Id prefer to remember Mr. Ford as a longtime loyal owner of the Lions who people that know him say was an authentic fan of the team who happened to own the team. Lets leave the philanthropy aside. And also remember him as a longtime member and past Chairman of the Ford Board of Directors powerful finance committee (vs. the other non-powerful committees). - love that description used over and over by the auto and business media. freep/article/20140310/SPORTS01/303100022/detroit-lions-william-clay-ford-drew-sharp
