Very interesting. Eight years ago Swedish scientists conducted a survey on whether plants really do feel pain. As a botanist myself this area of science has always been rather sketchy. However the Sweds did conclude that plants and trees can feel some sort of pain. They do respond to loud bangs, smoke, shouting and car traffic. More fascinating was the other experiment they undertook. Plants responded well to classical music, over a period of time they grew more finer leaves and flowers. The team then brought in a brass band. Over a period of two months plants and trees showed signs of stress with regards to the loud music, distorted growth, and wilt. Many people have stated this experiment shown here was a waste of money. Actually its not. If we can show that plants and trees do respond to pain then we have shown that all living creatures on planet Earth have some form of nervous system, emotion, understanding, and the will to want to live.
