Very interesting presentation and discussion of shareholder (e.g. US) and stakeholder (e.g. Germany) corporate practices. Net results: US: 6 trillion dollar deficit, Germany: 2 trillion dollar surplus. Additionally, German workers have had pay increases over the last 25 years that are five times more than American workers. The US deficit is certainly real. Sounds like American companies need to shift back to focus on stakeholder capitalism in which executives protect the interests of everyone with a stake in the business—from employees to customers, to shareholders, to management; rather than shareholder capitalism that focuses on driving wages down, jobs overseas, and benefits primarily to shareholders and management.
