Veterans, Military Members, Family and Friends, I am asking you to boycott staying at any Super 8 Motels. Please read and share the following story and you will see why I am asking you to do this. A lady from my hometown recently tried to stay at a Super 8 in Clarksburg, WVa, this is approximately 65 miles from home and when the weather is bad this can be a very dangerous drive. She needed the room because her husband had been admitted to the ICU at the VA hospital and she wanted to stay as close as possible in case she needed to get back to the hospital quickly. When she tried to get the room they refused to give her the room because she was considered a “local”. The following is her response to the motel because of the negative responses they have been receiving. RE: Your response to the negative postings I am the person this happened to. Let me begin by saying I stay in a Bridgeport/Clarksburg motel on average about once a month. I have had rooms at Wingate, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton and am currently staying at Days Inn. The only place that even mentioned the local policy was Days Inn and they were nice enough to give me a room AFTER they listened to my circumstances. So you saying Our hotel like most all motels in the area do not rent to locals is an absolute fabrication. The person I spoke to the day I TRIED to book at your facility was told I needed the room because my husband was in ICU at the veterans hospital. She DID NOT mention anything about providing documentation on hospital letter head in order to be able to get a room. I was told FLAT OUT that the policy was you did not rent to locals and I could NOT obtain a room. I did NOT care one way or the other about your generous 25% discount (that was never mentioned to me) all I cared about was finding a room so I could be at the hospital if needed. If that is your policy then you need to train your desk clerks about it because NEVER in my phone call (nor in others by my friends once this hit Facebook) was any of that mentioned. I will NEVER darken the door to your motel again and neither will several of my friends. I am only giving you 1 star as it wont let me post without it!
