Via Western PA Sheltie Rescue. All inquiries should go to Michael LaMont, not me or NVSR. (Courtesy post) Hi all, I’m sending this tonight to all of our volunteers, approved adoption homes and our past adoption homes in hopes to find an angel that would open their heart and their home to a little pup need some hope these days. His name is Harley and he’s 9 years old and he comes with a story. He is in the care of a younger couple that had a baby and another baby on the way. He is a barker and very high energy and a 10 on the ‘herding scale’ and sheltie shy at first when meeting new people. All typical Sheltie. Harley has not been able to adjust to the new baby in the home as they both compete for floor space and he has nipped several times at the two year old. The owners say he has to go!. The nipping began when the baby came on the scene. He needs a home with NO kids under 10 and no children that would be visiting his new home. We have meet Harley personally and truly believe he is NOT an aggressive pup, but just a pup that needs a home without babies clinging to him and sharing the floor space. Harley has not had an easy time adjusting to these new changes in his family, and to add to his stress, he went blind a year ago due to premature cataracts. With some fund raising and a commitment from the family, Harley had a very expensive eye surgery done to totally restore his vision, and he can see 100% clear these days. Harley does have diabetes and needs two insulin shots per day. While this is not expressive, it is a commitment to keeping his blood sugar where it needs to be and he will need follow up vetting every few months to monitor his condition. The insulin and supplies are around $30 to $40 per month. Harley is a wonderful sheltie pup that has found himself in a changing family with the new babies, and a family and home that is no longer right for him, and he finds himself lost and forgotten… where there use to be so much attention and love he finds himself let out these days. This is why I’m reaching out to you all… to find some hope and a proper home for Harley. He will need a fenced in yard, as he will be a flight risk, and one, maybe two other pups would be fine, but not a full house of pups. Harley will need one on one attention and a lot of doting on so he knows he is loved again. While an adoption home would be GREAT, I’m also asking for a foster home too to help get Harley out of his stressful environment as soon as possible. We have options for fostering, and while Harley is in the care or our rescue and a foster home, WPASR will cover all of the vetting and medical needs required. A foster to adopt would also be a good option in this case too. I’m so hoping this email this evening will touch someone’s heart, and sweet Harley can find hope in a home that is more suited to the sheltie he wants and needs to be. He’s a beautiful boy and he is just waiting for someone to love on him again. Please contact me if you can foster, would like to adopt or can help in any way. Thank you so much, and Harley says thank you too… Mike
