Vickie had a good day. Her color was good and she did not seem as tired as yesterday. Dr. Kamath talked with M D Anderson and they want Vickie to be stronger and more mobile before rescheduling. In the next couple of days Vickie will move to a nursing home/rehab facility. Hopefully this will be a good move. Of course we will continue to stay with her 24/7 to make certain she receives the care she needs. A CAT scan was done today which confirmed the pneumonia and some additional spots of cancer on her lungs. No matter how strong someone is, there comes a time when you bend but not break. Vick and I had one of those moments this afternoon. We were talking about her condition and she said it just seemed to happen so fast. I agreed and told her it had rocked my world. She is the big sister and feels she should be the one to take care of everyone. Although she tried very hard not to cry, she gave in for a few minutes. Bill and I told her it is ok to cry. All of us have. I told her that we are not throwing in the towel and she was not giving up. Just because Dr. Graves, the oncologist, told her this cancer is incurable does not mean it isnt treatable. (Dont get me started on the lack of compassion and the callousness some doctors have.) I will say Dr. Kamath at EAMC Lanier and Vickies Internist is wonderful. I am asking everyone to continue to pray for strength for Vickie so we can move on to the next leg of this journey. Thanks.
