Vince Cables response to the Publics demand that all defense licenses issued for exporting to Israel be suspended, has been very weak and unclear. He has only threatened to suspend the licenses in the event of significant resumption of hostilities. First of all, we are not clear what he means by significant. How many deaths equate to significant in Vinces calculations? Perhaps we need to make it clear to him the blockade of Gaza that is current is more than significant and warrants the immediate cancellation of all defense licenses and indeed demand sanctions against the Israeli state and companies that are complicit in the occupation and the siege of Gaza. Perhaps the only Lib Dem member of Parliament from Birmingham can explain what Vince meant and why he is not implementing the suspension of licenses now.
