Visited La Purisima Nuevo Elementary School in Ocampo, Camarines Sur yesterday to validate reports of classroom shortage and these are what we saw: makeshift classrooms made of bamboo and light materials which the parents themselves made, classes being held at makeshift covered courts and the school stage and anay-infested classrooms which already need to be condemned and no longer fit to be used by children. Children have to use umbrellas and raincoats when it rains even when inside their classrooms. And this is not an uncommon site in many other public elementary schools in my district. Dep Ed is serious in its target of zero-backlog in classrooms and we are trying to help in whatever way we can to help validate reports of shortage. Raffy Magno
