Vocational and entrepreneurial programme on Sericulture offered by IGNOU Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) invites applications for a six-month “Certificate in Sericulture” (CIS) Programme for July 2013 session. The certificate programme aims to infuse knowledge and skills in the field of sericulture to the interested particularly those already employed in the profession/entrepreneurs and cannot opt to afford a full time course; prepare the rural youth/farmers for accepting sericulture as profit making enterprise; impart knowledge and technical skills in various aspects of Sericulture; and create awareness about the opportunities and employment in Sericulture. The minimum duration of the certificate programme is six months. However, the candidate has the flexibility of completing the programme within two years’ time. The eligibility requirement for this certificate programme is 10th Pass. Non 10th passouts having two years of experience can also apply upon submission of experience certificate from the extension officials of the Dept. of Sericulture/Agriculture/ Extension/ Recognised NGOs/Industry. The programme fee is Rs. 3,500. The programme is offered in English language. All the interested candidates from rural areas and below poverty line urban candidates can avail 50 per cent fee concession on submission of valid proof.
