Voice of the People by Pat Pfeffer Residents of Owen, My column this week is on a little different subject. I would like to ask for some help from the public. This help is not for me but for our commu-nity and our residents. We have a very diverse community including, rich, poor, skilled, unskilled, married, single, young, elderly, etc. My point behind all of this is that there are members of our community that need our help, and members of our community that are capable of helping. I am proposing that we work together in any way we can to help each other. I would like to personally ask our citizens to contact me if you would like to help in any way; in addition, please contact me if you need help and we will review the available resources to see what we can do to help. I feel that if we would like to invite business and people to Owen, we need to show that we care what our city looks like and that we are hard working and able to work together. Owen is a city with a lot of history behind it, so I am asking that we all work to preserve our history while giving Owen a much needed update on its appearance. In addition to all of the work to be done, we also need some help with funding these projects. Our city sidewalk budget is far too low to allow us to fix all of the bad spots in the city. We are also short on funds to remove the large trees that are destroying the sidewalks. We also have our Downtown Revi-talization Committee that could really do some excellent things with giving our downtown a facelift if they had the funding available. And last our Parks and Recreation Committee could make our parks and playgrounds safer and more inviting with some help from the community. I am asking our community to come together and hold strong. If you dont know your neighbors, please meet them. If you have a skill, please help. And if you can help financially, please donate to a project. If you would like to contact me, please call me at (715)482-0272, or leave a message at city hall for Alderman Pfeffer. Thank you for your support.
