Voices of Meningitis Presentation June 4th, 2014 at Jackson MS-Library, 10625 SW 35th Avenue 7:00pm -8:30pm. Hosted by Portland Council PTA. Light refreshments and Door Prizes. Meningococcal meningitis, although rare, can be deadly. In fact, it can potentially kill an otherwise healthy teen in less than 24 hours. To help prevent others from experiencing this potentially devastating disease, Robbin, who lost her 19-year old son suddenly to meningitis, is coming to the Portland area. Robbin and Portland school nurse Kim Bartholomew are speaking on behalf of the Voices of Meningitis campaign, a national initiative from the National Association of School Nurses in collaboration with Sanofi Pasteur to help educate and motivate parents to help protect their teens, and to speak with their health care provider about preventing this rare, but potentially fatal disease.
