Vote yes or no for the Earlham school expansion? I am currently planning to vote no. I am concerned our district is not in a financially secure position to spend tax money on the new school expansion. Trust me.... I want to see that expansion and would love for my kids to enjoy the new facilities but here is my concern: Personally, we just received a county assessment that lowered the value of our property. I assume we are not alone so that means less revenue dollars to our school district over all. The audit released and published in the paper indicates a 1.76% drop in revenue and our expenses are up 8.96%. Given that revenues are down and expenses are up, that tells me that we should tighten the belt, not expand. I know money is cheap, but if we cant pay the principal until years in the future and that interest will continue to rack up. That concerns me. Given that information, can anyone convince me why I should vote yes?
