WALKING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND Today, November 25, 2014, was a magical day for my four year old grandson, William Rohlfing, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. We had a dusting of feather light snow last night and the sun came out this morning creating a sparkling winter wonderland all over the area. William and I hiked to the top of Miller Bluff and took in the magnificent view. William delighted in tasting white snowflakes, and shaking the powdery snow off the branches of small trees. His indoor activities consisted of art lessons taught by Peggy, and at least ten high charged and emotionally draining games of Candyland. He won at least six of the ten games. I then took him hiking on the rabbit trail and across a frozen lake, and then sledding at Myrick Park where he befriended a very pretty young lady named Elsie who was twice his age and they sledded together for two hours until the sun went down, and then in the fading light William played hide and go seek with me at the Kids Coulee playground and he hid so well that it took me 8 minutes of looking before I finally gave up. He had crawled into a little rats nest under a wooden castle and he camouflaged himself with leaves and snow. Then home for hot chocolate, Peggys fried chicken, ice cream, and the Finding Nemo movie. Its a lot of fun to be a four year old boy in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and its also a lot of fun to be a 64-year-old boy playing around with a four-year-old boy. You can only be young once, but you can be immature forever.
