WATCH: Bible, King James Version NT And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. And sitting down they watched him there; Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch. Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him. And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him. And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
