WATERFALL - Vehicle catches fire after overheating during hot weather. Emergency services were called earlier this afternoon (4/1) to reports of a vehicle fire on the Princes Highway. Approximately 1:40pm, a triple-zero call alerted Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service to a vehicle fire on the Princes Highway near Waterfall Train Station. Crews arrived not long afterwards and were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to nearby grass. Witnesses say the vehicle had overheated and came to a stop in the break down lane before it burst into flames. Occupants of the vehicle are said to be fine, with no injuries reported. Temperatures reached up to 32 degrees throughout the Sutherland Shire today with it being a reminder for motorists to ensure their vehicle does not overheat during hot weather. Images | Paul Boulton
