WE IGNORANTLY TRUSTED CHRISTIANITY. Yorubas were Muslims for just less than a millenium(1,000 years) before the colonialists brought christianity. We we were told the kind of government they were introducing would not tamper with the indegenous religions they met. Both the muslim and non-muslim aborigenes thought they were honest and trust-worthy. Little did we know they had some sinister agenda to firstly establish the new christian religion they brought, structure the said governmental system based on its doctrines and tenets and use the christianity-derived laws to destroy our values and belief systems. They declared the two worship days of christianity as public holidays, we thought we could still trust them. They made English the official language, we still trusted them. They made it compulsory for anyone who would be taught that language to convert to christianity, many were forced to leave Islam and other religion. We sensed deception and malicious agenda and we rose against them. They later bowed to pressure and removed the condition. They went back to the drawing board and said no problem, we can enroll in the schools without converting, we then trusted them. They mandated the teaching of Christianity in schools and we trusted them. We later realised our children got brainwashed through such teaching and got converted again, so we said we want Islam also to be taught in schools. They said no problem but Christian religion studies is compulsory and we again trusted them. We realised our children still got brainwashed and we said christianity should also be optional like Islamic studies, they again reluctanly agreed and we trusted them again. They made christian morning devotion coompulsory for all pupils in the morning and we said no problem. Our children started memorising our lord Prayer and we sensed the danger, we quickly went back and said we also want islamic prayer method. They gave us only one day on friday and the remaining days of the week for christianity and we said no problem. They mandated our children to close eyes and say amen to praying in the name of Jesus, we said what!, that is idolatory in islam! They insisted and we reminded them of their promise never to tamper with our religion. They made our matriculation and graduation gowns the replica of what choire members wear in their cathederals and we kept quite. They allowed the use of berets for famale student that is also a replica of those used by deaconesses in their churches, we kept quite. They made the medical logo of our hospitals to be in the form of a cross, which represent christianity and we kept quite. They structure the courts to honour only monogamous marriage of christianity and reject the polygamous type of the indigenous religions and we kept quite. They declared other christian festivs as public holidays for us, we felt sidelined and started to lament. They then started to include other islamic days as public holidays. They forced anyone taking oath of office to swear with a scripture, which is forbidden in islam but we kept quite. They ban the use of hijab by muslim girls and say it makes others feel inferior. But we are saying no, we want our hijab. We are expecting more to come, we have now known they are here to deceive us and destroy our religion.
