WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER THREE TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT: TROPICAL DEPRESSION “EMONG” ISSUED AT 11:00 AM, 17 JUNE 2013 (Valid for broadcast until the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today) TROPICAL DEPRESSION “EMONG” HAS MAINTAINED ITS STRENGTH WHILE STILL OVER THE EAST PHILIPPINE SEA. Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “EMONG” was estimated based on all available data at 280 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (13.8°N, 127.0°E). Strength: Maximum winds of 55 kph near the center. Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 11 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Depression “EMONG” is expected to be at 230 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes by tomorrow morning. By Wednesday, it will be at 330 km East of Aparri, Cagayan and at 400 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes by Thursday morning. • Estimated rainfall within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy). • Tropical Depression “EMONG” is still far to directly affect any part of the country. However, it will enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. • TD “Emong” is likely to intensify within the next 24 to 48 hours. • The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 pm today.
