WEATHER OUTLOOK The wedge of cool air over the Southeast will remain in place until early next week. A series of lows will be riding the frontal boundary along the coast and funnel moist tropical air into the western Carolinas. This will generate widespread showers through the first part of the week. Drier and warmer weather is expected to return by the middle of the week. TODAY Patchy fog and drizzle before 11am. Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Showers will be more frequent in the southeastern half of the county more than the northwestern. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 73. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. HAZARDOUS WEATHER Scattered to numerous showers and potentially a few thunderstorms are expected across the region today. The main threat will be lighting and locally heavy rain at times that may lead to isolated flooding. TONIGHT Showers likely, mainly before 3am. Patchy fog after 9pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 62. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. MONDAY Patchy fog in the morning. Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the mid 70s. Southwest wind around 5 mph. MONDAY NIGHT Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers. Southwest wind in the evening becomes light and variable after midnight.
