Follow the timeline here: prowrestlinghistoricalsociety/gotch-frank.html (Pictures is Frank Gotch, Martin Farmer Burns and Ole Marsh A.K.A. Joseph Carroll) Excerpts from the page: Thursday, December 21, 1899 - Humboldt, Iowa - Its reported that when Frank Gotch watched Martin Farmer Burns versus Halil Adali The Terrible Turk in Fort Dodge he got in the ring with Burns. Burns defeated Gotch in eleven minutes, he had fifteen minutes. Burns said the following: Thats the best amateur in Iowa I have ever met. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday, March 29, 1900 - Humboldt, Iowa - Its mentioned Carl Brown (Charles Moth) threw Frank Gotch here recently. Martin Farmer Brown now wants to face Brown. The local paper also printed the following: Considering the fact that Brown is one of the past masters of the art of wrestling, and the fact that Gotch has been in the business for a little over a year, the showing made is nothing more or less than remarkable. Gotch with more experience and skill should make one of the best if not the best wrestler in all America. He has received flattering offers from Burns to travel with the latter as his wrestling partner, but this Gotch has persisted so far in refusing. He owns a good far in Humboldt County and farms it, looking after his aged parents and wrestling for the fun of it. Sometime he may make up his mind to go on the road as a professional, and if he does the sporting world will hear of him. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday, June 27, 1901 - Humboldt, Iowa - The following letter is received: Compliments of Frank Gotch, the Cyclone Wrestler of Humboldt, Iowa, The coming champion catch-as-catch-can wrestler of the world and his pard, Invincible Joe. better known as Ole the Terrible Swede of Bear Creek, Alaska. Its thought the Ole is Ole Marsh who is said to have gone to Alaska with Martin Farmer Burns and Gotch some time ago. The letter was dated at White Horse, Y.T..
