WEEK EIGHT in UIL REGION IV DIST 29 6A & 5A WAS OCTOBER HALLOWEEN SPOOKIE for football. The amazing TIGERS after it was all done and said defeated Southside in a thriller at Shirley field, and was not decided until the Tigers scored on a play that Southside used on the Tigers all night long. The tigers normally run off a version of a spread for the go ahead score they used a play that Southside used all night long against the Tiger defense. They stack three receivers on the right line one receiver to the far right . Then they move those three receivers from the right to the left side and hike the ball and give the ball to the tail back. The Tigers found a way to stop that on defense by submarine one defender to break up the over stack line at the line of scrimmage and allow the linebackers to rush in on the runner and it worked . Speaking with Coach Charles after the game he said when we asked him if they had a plan to attack that they saw on film. He said we had a plan and our players on defense did what was asked and we saw it on film and we were able to stop them. Now back to the same play Southside used all night long against the Tigers, but this time the TIGERS on that one play used the same formation and stacked the line on the right side first on offence and then moved them to the right side and hiked the ball gave it to their running back and scored inside the five yard line. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND .......... A play taken from the Southside play book, and it was the only time the Tigers did that on that drive that won the game for them. Southside is no longer undefeated in the season, and district, thanks to a brilliant game plan by Coach Charles and his coaching staff. Laredo Alexander was the other upset that occurred, and this was not pretty at all for the story program at Alexander. This is going to be interesting the rest of the last three games left in the season for the Bulldogs. With their loss at Del Rio and LBJ beating Eagle Pass Alexander has to win out the remaining three games, and get help to make the the final standings for the playoffs. Alexander has yet to play United South, Eagle Pass , and United. A tough final three games remaining for the Bulldogs. Two more losses will put Alexander in jeopardy of not making the playoffs The Game Stats tell you part of the what happened . 196 TOTAL YARDS FOR THE ALEXANDER BULLDOGS against Del Rio . Clearly a night Swain was not well. Swain only threw for 108 yards passing and had three interceptions. THE BULLDOGS LOST three fumbles with six total turn overs against Del Rio. CJ LOERA rushed for 23 yards and Swain for only 20 yards. Del Rios Defense held Alexander to one of its lowest total yards this season and caused all those six turn overs. LBJ all it has to do to get into the playoffs because they have beaten Alexander and Eagle Pass is just win one more game. They have remaining in their season games against Del Rio in Laredo, against United in Laredo and finish the district final game against United South. Laredo Nixon had a go at it against Uvalde in Uvalde. The score board showed the Mustangs came a bit short but gave Uvalde all they could handle. Nixon scores its 15 points in the fourth quarter. They had 69 rushing yards and 167 passing on the night and only six possession in the whole night as Uvalde controlled the clock leading up to the fourth quarter. In the Fourth Quarter Jorge Salazar scored for the Mustangs on a 30 yard pass and Joel Trevino scored on an 8 yard run for the Mustangs late in the fourth quarter. Looks closer than it might have been from the Mustang Prospective, but Uvalde remains unbeaten in district at 4-0 and 7-0 in the season, and are now leading the district with the Southwest defeat against Martin in Laredo. United and United South wow United scores again over 50 points and United South could not stop #21 Isidro CHILLO Alaniz as he scores five rushing TDs against the United South Panthers Defense. United is now in clear control of winning the district title in 2014 as the nearest foe is two games back. A tough loss for United South against United and puts the Panthers in a position they have to win all their remain games and get help to make the playoffs with this defeat against the Longhorns. A NIGHT OF OCTOBER SPOOKIE stuff with the Laredo Martin Tigers beating unbeaten Southside (San Antonio) and Del Rio beating Alexander by 7 on a night quarterback Swain returned after an injury the week before. With LBJ beating Eagle Pass making the Wolves one step closer in making the playoffs in 2014. SPOOKIEEEeeeee night it was in UIL Region IV Dist. 29 6A & 5A.
