WEEKLY BROADCAST WEEK OF 14 SEPTEMBER 2014 COMMANDER’S CORNER: Al Kinsall, Groton Base Commander Shipmates, As I stated last week, over the next few months we will be undergoing a financial review of the last three years of operation. This is a task that is needed done to ensure financial stability for the base in years to come. This review is being chaired by Vice Commander Perritt who is in accordance with our bylaws the Finance Chairman. When the review is completed a full report will be presented to the membership. In the meanwhile, please support your Base here at Groton and put your expertise to work for the Base. In addition, committee chairs who haven’t submitted their 2015 budgets by 15 September will not be able to draw on the overall Base budget to pay for expenses. This is a deadline that has been broadcast for several weeks. WINTER UNIFORM SHIFT WILL CHANGE TO THE WINTER UNIFORMS AT TIME 0001 THE FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH OF OCTOBER. The membership approved the creation of a CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT TASK FORCE. This task force will conduct a complete structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, survey of the SUBVETS Building to determine, suggest priorities and develop a budget for capital improvements to the property. This task force will collaborate with the Finance/Investment and Strategic Planning task forces for budgeting and long range planning purposes. This is a job that needs to be done in order to budget and prioritize the capital projects to be done. This year will be no different. We have already started our planning and fund raising. Our first fund raiser will be on 4 October from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. We are looking for volunteers to cover the watch bill. Planning has it as a 2 hour watch through the day to receive donation for the Thanksgiving celebration and Caring sharing program for those in the area that cannot make it home for Thanksgiving and to provide a home style meal at our Clubhouse.
