WEST PENN SAYS NO: West Penn Power says they will not be paying for damages that its customers suffered after the power surge on June 27 in Waynesboro. West Penn says the power surge occurred as a result of equipment malfunction which was not or could not have predicted. For this reason they will not pay any claims that are filed by customers for damage. As of Tuesday afternoon there were 190 claims of damage to air conditioners, computers, refrigerators, heat pumps and tvs. Claims have also been filed for loss of business due to the power outage.
