WHAAAAAAAAAT!? One of my favorite Christian bands listens to and - TopicsExpress

WHAAAAAAAAAT!? One of my favorite Christian bands listens to and enjoys secular music??? I... I feel a weird little validation after years of being harassed (by others, but more my own confusions) for enjoying any good quality music. Even when its from the mouths of bad life examples or, in the case of Meghan Trainor, contains the occasional, well placed foul language. Sigh, silly Americanized Christianism... UNRELATED NOTE! I still owe Thousand Foot Krutch a bruise or two for the pain they put my team and I through during the 2003 Acquire the Fire tour! Specifically, the mosh pit that formed while I, the guy responsible for concert security, was out of the building guiding the leaders to their bust-out meetings. I came back to my team of volunteers screaming at me over the radio for help, and saw the incredible mass of Canadians bashing my wonderful volunteer security folks (comprised of local Canadians and members of our worship, acting, and support team!) into the stage at the bands feet like a human wave hitting the beach. I admit, it was fun being a 63, 400 pound beast dressed all in black, rushing down the stairs from stage left, jumping the hockey wall better than any athlete, diving into a mosh pit and throwing kids out left and right, and within just a couple of minutes had calmed the surf that was beating up my team. They may not remember us, but I politely (but very loudly) asked them to encourage the kids to calm the heck down while their controllers were out of the building, to which they were kind enough to comply and assist with tempering the passion present. That Saturday morning though, when everyone broke for lunch... the carnage where the floor seating had been is only definable as awesome... I wish digital cameras had been more prevalent at the time, because I so want share pictures of the three massive stacks of folding chairs unceremoniously piled in the back of the rink. Personal belongings that had been among the floor seating were almost a total loss. Smashed and scattered purses and other personal effects left by the non-present group leaders... the occasional imprint of what I can assume was a human, squished Weird Al style into the concrete (kidding!). It was like the apocalypse had occurred, contained within a hockey ice rink, and we STILL had everything reset, cleaned, sorted, and (mostly) returned to their owners by the time everyone got back from lunch! So, if I ever do have opportunity to meet these guys in person again, they might get a very painful slug in the shoulder. Followed immediately by this 63 beast of a man twerking it like the hero-to-big-men dancing in the All About That Bass video. I assure you, it will all be in celebration of how awesome and helpful the influence of their music and personalities have been in my life. Scar tissue and PTSD not withstanding ;D. I invite any of my folks from the MT03 crowd to correct or amplify my memories of that concert event! I know Boomer, Firpi, and a couple others were present on the line that day, and my partner-in-crime of the time Kris Clifford deserves as much or more credit for anything we succeeded at while handling ushers and security detail for the tour. But I cant remember every face from our team who participated, so by all means, please share the love and memories that I may have missed!
