“WHAT IS YOUR STAND?” In his farewell, Joshua decided the best way to say goodbye was to leave everyone with a challenge! Joshua 24:15 “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua in his farewell address said many things! He did say a lot about the great adventures, the victories, miracles and lessons that the nation of Israel experienced in their journey to the Promised Land. JOSHUA TOOK OVER FROM MOSES! Now that is some challenge! Talk about great responsibility, and mantle take over. But NOW TIME FOR HIM TO LEAVE, TIME TO SAY GOOD BYE. TIME TO ASK WHERE HIS SUBJECTS STAND? Joshua wanted to make sure before he died that the people of Israel trusted and served THE LORD AND THE LORD ALONE! Because he knew only THE LORD ALONE WILL SAVE THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL! JOSHUA DIED. As for Redemption we are far from saying goodbye! But one thing is for sure. Life is uncertain, tomorrow might never come. Like Joshua we too will have to say goodbye. And that is why like Joshua we like you to take a stand. MAKE A STAND NOW! TOMORROW WILL BE TOO LATE! Matthew 24:40-44 “Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. JESUS CHRIST WARNS OF JUDGMENT DAY! WHAT IS YOUR STAND? Mark 1:15 “The right time has come,” he said, “and the Kingdom of God is near! Turn away from your sins and believe the Good News!” REPENT AND BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST! WHY MUST WE REPENT? BECAUSE OF SIN! AND ALL HAVE SINNED! (Romans 3: 23) “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” AND THE REWARD OF SIN IS DEATH “ETERNAL DEATH” Romans 6: 23 “For the wages of sin is death,…” But JESUS IS GOD’s ATONEMENT FOR OUR SIN! 1 John 2:2 “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” Only through JESUS CHRIST CAN WE receive forgiveness for our SIN! REPENT FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN Don’t be too hard on yourself if you know that your past has caused a lot of pain for you and loved ones just bring it before JESUS CHRIST IN PRAYER! Just tell JESUS WHAT YOU HAVE DONE OF WHICH YOU ARE NOT PROUD OF! This is CONFESSION OF SIN! 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” ASK JESUS TO WIPE AWAY YOUR PAINFULL PAST, AND GIVE YOU HOPE FOR A NEW LIFE, FUTURE AND NEW DIRECTION! THE DIRECTION HOME! That is REPENTANCE! WHY MUST WE BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST AS OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR? For there is no one in history who has claimed to be the savior of humankind but JESUS CHRIST! John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” No religious leader, preacher or saint can save mankind but only JESUS CHRIST! And in his own words JESUS says, Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” John 3:17 “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” JESUS DECLARES THAT GOD HIS FATHER HAS SENT HIM TO SAVE YOU AND ME! AND THAT WHO EVER BELIEVES IN HIM IS WELCOMED TO GODS KINGDOM! BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST TO BE SAVED ACCEPT JESUS TO BE THE LORD AND SAVIOUR OF YOUR LIFE! This is what it means to BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL. ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST, YOU INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE! YOU BECOME A CHILD OF GOD. THE HEAVENLY FATHER WILL WELCOME YOU TO HIS HEAVENLY KINGDOM! You can invite JESUS BY PRAYING THE FOLLOWING PRAYER! (GENUINELY FROM THE VERY BOTTOM OF YOUR HEART) “Lord Jesus I need you. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Saviour and Lord. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.” Amen. TAKE A STAND NOW!
