WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT MUHAMMAD. Below is a list of statements made by some notable western scholars and thinkers about our noble prophet Muhammad(SAW): 1. WASHINGTON IRVIN :“His military triumphs awakened neither pride nor vain glory as they would have done if they were affected by selfish purposes. In the time of his greatest power he maintained the same simplicity of manner and appearance as in the days of his adversity.so far from affecting regal state he was displeased if, on entering a room, any unusual testimonial of respect was shown to him”. (Mohamet and his successors,London,1909,pp.192-199) 2. GEORGE BERNARD SHAW: “I have always held the religion of muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to possess that assimilating capability to the changing phases of existence which makes itself appeal to every age-I have prophesized about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today. Medieval ecclesiastics, either through ignorance or bigotry, painted mohammedanism in the darkest colours. They were, in fact, trained to hate bith the man Muhammad and his religion. To them Muhammad eas an anti- christ. I have studied him, the wonderful man, and in my opinion, far from being an anti- christ, he must be called the savior of humanity”. (‘The genuine islam’, vol. 1 No.8, 1936) 3. MICHAEL HART : “My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels… it is this unparalleled influence which I feel entitles Muhammad to be the most influential single figure in human history”. (Michael Hart, The 100- A ranking of the most influential persons in history, New York, 1978, pp.26-40) These are just a few of the numerous statements made by non-muslim scholars and thinkers about our noble prophet Muhammad (SAW). May Allah (SWT) increase our imaan and love for the Holy prophet (PBUH)
