WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN NOTARIZATION IS REQUIRED: When getting something Notarized, you will need to present a photo I.D. Your State Driver’s License or State I.D. is preferred, but a Passport with a photo I.D. is also acceptable. Many documents that require documentation, have the necessary Notary form built into the document. If they don’t, your State Licensed Notary, can provide you with the necessary form. Most simple notarizations require a form known as an Acknowledgement. The second most used Notary form is a Jurat, used primarily, when the signer needs to swear that the contents of the document to be signed are true. Documents to be signed and notarized, MUST be signed in front of the State Licensed Notary. What to expect: The State Authorized Notary, will notarize the signatures on the document to be signed. In addition to providing photo I.D., the signer or signees, will be asked to provide their right thumbprint in the Notary’s journal. The standard fee is $10 per signature, with additional charges allowed for mileage, when a Notary travels to where the Notary needs to be conducted. If more than one signature is required, and not all parties are available at the same time, the Notarization may be carried out for those who are present; with a separate Acknowledgement to be signed by the other parties at a later date, when they ARE available.
