WHEN A COUNTRY BECOMES A NATION: A country is just a map, a geographical region. A nation is when people in that country become a community, when they love and grow together in solidarity. We often pay too much attention on politics that we dont notice the many great things happening in our country, the many great people and businesses impacting lives, the many great people changing our country into a nation. Today, we honor you Dr. James Mwangi, for who you are first as a man- demonstrating to men what focus and hardwork looks like. We honor you as a father- in a generation of men that sire and neglect their own children, men who have abandoned fatherhood; you have remained a family man, responsible not just to your own flesh and blood but also to the thousands of children your dream of Wings to fly has touched, those children see you as a father figure. We honor you as a husband - in a generation where many men are unfaithful and breaking their own homes; you have remained faithful to your marriage, walking with your wife to interviews, publicly showing your love, wearing your wedding ring with pride. We honor you as a businessman- where many companies have collapsed or perpetuated corruption; you captain a homegrown African bank, EQUITY BANK, that is the darling of this continent, making good use of the profits to change lives, Africans for Africa. We honor you as a believer- in a generation where successful men have turned away from God; you have demomstrated your faith in God and how God drives you, even speaking a blessing to the President affirming that this is the Lords doing. This should be the joy of making profits, the joy of doing business and making money. That yes, your profits go to enriching your own personal lifestyle but also impacting the lives around you. So dear Kenyans in the middle class, and high class; with your financial might, what positive thing have you done to make this country a nation? With all your intellect and success, what have you done to making this a better nation? Dear man, how many look up to you and see a father figure? How many lives will go to sleep tonight thanking God for you not stressed because of you? Now that God has blessed you, how have you blessed others? You might have been born to a wealthy family, you might have been born in progressive Nairobi, your big break might have come before others; there are those not as privileged as you, but in our nation, we are brothers and sisters- we pull each other up. This country will become a nation, when we debate less about politicians and celebrate more our social leaders, when we itch less to talk about gossip and yearn more to understand each other, when we dont pull each other down but lift each other up, when we see each other not as tribes but brothers and sisters, when we become strong so that we are strength to others, when we are not just financially wealthy but also socially wealthy!
