WHEN THE PARTY’S OVER! What is your reaction when the alarm - TopicsExpress

WHEN THE PARTY’S OVER! What is your reaction when the alarm clock rings in the early morning hours to notify you that it is time to begin your day? I know if you are like most people that sense of dread comes over you as you began slapping at the night stand to shut that thing off. The day’s activities flood your mind as the reminder of meetings, client calls, and endless additional duties come to the forefront. Do you stare mindlessly at the television at night flipping through hundreds of channels to find something to entertain you while glancing at the wall clock to avoid sleep because you hate the thought of what lies on the other side of a night’s rest which is your job? I remember listening to a poplar song when I a teenager titled, “Working for the Weekend” which everyone seems to do. “If only I can make it to Friday” we say. Likewise that sense of dread or that black cloud hangs over us as bedtime comes on Sunday night knowing the black Monday is here. I have tried to focus on the positives in my life and avoid the negatives as best I can over the past few months as I watch my life slowly creep towards the end. Like the sands of the hour glass on the Wizard of Oz each day brings us closer and closer to eternity. We may like it or hate it but it is coming all the same. When I began to dress in the morning I thank God I have a job in this horrible economy. When I start to complain about driving an hour and a half to work everyday I thank God that He has allowed me quiet time alone with Him. It is my opinion that if we continually mull over our earthly work and forget the blessings God has poured out for us we are wasting valuable time that God has allowed us to do for HIS kingdom work. We should ask ourselves every morning, “What can I do for the kingdom today?” OR, “Why should God allow me one more day on this earth if I am not being fruitful and adding to His kingdom?” Friends we are not walking this earth to amuse God as if we are some plaything He has to have for His entertainment. No, God wants to have fellowship with each one of us and He wants us to be happy BUT ALSO PRODUCTIVE in this life as we build rewards for the next life. If you are living for the weekend and the party to come you may want to stop and analyze your life. We should all focus on the today’s challenges and let tomorrow’s worries come tomorrow! Amen? Take a piece of paper and write out all of the blessings God has given you and count them one by one. Set a goal each day that you will be bold in the faith and share truth (Jesus Christ) with just one person. Do you realize that if you shared Christ with ten people and only one accepted Him as Savior and Lord you would get to see this person for ETERNITY in Heaven and know you made that happen! That is so AWESOME! Where will you be at the end of the night when the weekend parties are over? What will you have to show for your life when you are facing your earthly death? Was your life one be vacation (traveling all over the world spending money you don’t have) while children and families live in total helplessness and despair all around you? Could you have made a difference (an eternal difference in their lives)? I think so friend. Think about your life and ask yourself the question, “Can I do more to increase the population of the kingdom of heaven?” Amen? Have a great Wednesday!
