WHY? Sammy Yatim, an 18-year-old shot dead by Toronto police, WHY? - TopicsExpress

WHY? Sammy Yatim, an 18-year-old shot dead by Toronto police, WHY? Why did they need to shoot a baby 9 times to stop him? Why did a dozen big brave and strong Toronto Police officers (with Billy clubs and tazers) feel a 95 lb kid was a “mortal” threat to all of them? This is not the first time and most likely will not be the last. In February 2012 remember Michael Eligon, a 29-year-old who suffered from mental illness, he had them “nuclear” scissors as well, you know the type of scissors 12 + cops can’t handle. So what are the Toronto Police “rules of engagement”, shoot if the odds are less than 24 guns, Billy clubs, tazers and cops against 1 person? Back in the day, it would take a special type of person to be a police officer, upright, courageous, honest and forthright and now we have bullies. I am only guessing but I bet you that little man (the cop) had an orgasm as he shot, that’s why after the kid had 3 rounds in him he NEEDED 6 more, why? I am a civilian but even I see multiple options to deadly force, close the doors and use tear gas, close the doors and wait, stand back and tazer him, ask him what the problem is, talk with him, send the dogs in, send in someone or 5 with stab proof vests on, get it, shooting was NOT required. They say you can judge a community by how they treat the less fortunate, well Toronto we are terminally ill. We treat valuable human lives as expendable , we don’t do this with animals. Being homeless or young or female or mentally ill or a minority or just venerable have become synonymous with the lesser in my city. I cry for how sick we have become I hope these cowards do the right thing. Sending them home with full pay for a vacation is not the right thing, If I could walk I would join every protest that will be held over this, take a lesson from our neighbors to the south and I would march and protest like hell. Here is a link to the video, look at the moments before the shooting, cops standing around with hands on hips, people riding by on bicycles, people walking by, if mortal danger was afoot would the cops just let random people walk by? After the TORONTO Police officer shoots the child 3 times and the child hits the floor, the cop repositions his gun (aims at the floor of the streetcar) and fire 6 more times. Why the 6 more shots? I don’t see the kid blocking the first 3 shots and charging, what the hell am I missing. Watch the cop, he runs up to the streetcar all excited that some action is going on… last cop to show up, figures he know all that has gone on before he arrived, he has it under control… (shoot, shoot shoot!! Ya shoot) I was taught not to paint any one group with the same brush, however in this case if the Toronto police don’t stand up collectively and say this is wrong they are all just as guilty. Police ethics and ethos are not to be taken lightly you stand as a collective and this blood is on all your hands, shame on you. To the Yatim family, the Eligon family and all the families who have lost loved ones to this pointless TORONTO police bravado, I personally am so sorry for your loss, I will pray for you and your loved ones. thestar/news/gta/2013/07/29/sammy_yatim_latest_in_a_long_line_of_toronto_police_shooting_deaths.html
