WIND CHILL ADVISORY The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a WIND CHILL ADVISORY - from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday. * Wind chill readings around 10 below zero are expected late tonight into Monday morning. Winds will decrease late Monday morning... improving wind chill readings to 0 to 5 below zero as temperatures only climb a few degrees. * Wind chills of this magnitude can result in frost bite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Those outdoors without sufficient protection will run a high risk for frost bite or hypothermia. * The coldest wind chills will be occurring at school bus stop time... so make sure the kids are bundled up with multiple layers of protection and no skin is exposed! Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate wind chills of 10 below zero to 15 below zero. This will result in frostbite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
