WINSTED- CANNAVO- Dorothy Therese Cannavo, Cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Born January 7, 1933 in Winsted; the daughter of the late Neree and Mary (Turgeon) Picard. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Winsted, graduating from St. Anthony’s and Gilbert School. She worked as a Nurses Aide at Litchfield County Hospital but then left to raise her children. She returned to work at the Winsted Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. Her life revolved around her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Ever caring she would never forget family and friend’s special occasions with a lovely card. Dorothy particularly enjoyed tag sales and gardening. We will never forget her beautiful smile. She is survived by her children, Robert and his wife Nancy Cannavo, Mark Cannavo and his partner Myrna Attella and Donna and husband Louis Bourgoin, all of Winsted; a brother, Richard (Anne) Picard of Granby; a sister, Diane (William) Russell of Portland; Grandchildren, Lindsay, Seth, Maria and Justin; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main St. Winsted from 2-4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 26, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Church, Winsted at 11 AM. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Winsted.
