(WJRW) -- The Ladies Professional Golf Association reportedly is adding Grand Rapids to its list of 2014 tour stops. Golfweek first reported in late September that a deal was being finalized to play a tournament in Grand Rapids next August. And Meijer, the founder of the supercenter store concept, will be the title sponsor. A news conference is tentatively scheduled for Friday, according to WOOD-TV 8. Blythefield Country Club in Belmont supposedly will be the host site. Golf Week points out that the Meijer Charity Classic Pro-Am in Grand Rapids has been a popular event over the years. Professional golf is nothing new to Grand Rapids. The Senior P-G-A played at the Elks Country Club at what was then known as the Greater Grand Rapids Open, starting in 1986. It later became the Farmers Charity Classic, which was held at the Highlands and, later, at Egypt Valley Country Club, until 2004. ###
