WNCDGA Date: December 2, 2014 Call to Order: 7:14 •Members in Attendance: Tony Malone, Casey Conner, Chris Joyell -Minutes Approved • Financial Report -Balance is in order Membership -Membership total at this point is 183!! Black Mountain - Thank you Casey Conner and The Staff at the Black Mountain Course that keep it looking great!! -Thank You to Pisgah Brewery for sponsoring the “Perfect Round” Challenge!!! -Thank You to Lookout Brewery and John Garcia for sponsoring the CTP (Closest to Pint)!!! Awesome!! -Thank You Mike Cole for providing a pool skimmer to rescue discs out of the cold stream!!! -Glow Dubs brought to the masses by Mojo Kitchen and Mountain High Adventures in collaboration with the WNCDGA, has seen terrific turnout and is going swimmingly!!!!! • Richmond Hill - Day Dubs is rolling!!! Thank you Mike Catanese and Mike Couzins!! -The Club has been contacted by Chris Joyell representing an architectural company looking to help us design and construct new restroom facilities. Thank You Chris!!! The WNCDGA needs to do a better job of capturing attendance numbers in order to get the attention of city planners that could help us institute changes to the park. Tyler Wooddy to act as liason. • Lake Julian -New Holes are designed and awaiting approval from Duke Power. -Workday needs to be organized for the transfer of the green tee pad material from Richmond Hill to Lake Julian. Revisit next meeting. • Sand Hill -Jason Urroz’s grant has been approved and we are now waiting for the delivery of baskets. Thank You Jason Urroz!!! -Club has purchased and delivered 18 sleeves to Kevin Vinez and authorized him to purchase concrete for their installation. Thank You Kevin Vinez!!! • Monthly -Most recently held at Richmond Hill. -Attended by 44 players. Payout was substantial. -Club Memebers in attendance were able to throw for two t-shirts, a Club waterbottle, and a custom dyed disc. • Membership Coordinated by River Dave • Maintenance Coordinated by Thom and Wooddy Sponsorships Coordinated by Nate, Wind, and Josh • Tournaments (reinstated) Coordinated by Bret , Chris , and Jeff ---Sub Committees are formed and looking for club members that are interested in helping out behind the scenes (especially in the Maintenance and Tournament Organization subcommittees) to fill out the ranks. Please contact one of the Coordinators if you are interested.--- This would also be a terrific chance for those interested in running for the next board to see what it takes to make this Club happen. Merchandise -Club Logo Stamped discs are in and available at the usual venues. (Tourneys and Josh Easterlings Coffee trailer) -Asheville Adventure Rentals to carry hats, shirts, and discs for the club. Thank You AAR!!!!!!! Bret to contact. Nate Kellar- Tyler Wooddy- Club to send 10 Club Stamped Discs and Minis to our “penpal” club in Chile Bret Moore- Need to order more “Warning” signs from Innova to be placed at high traffic areas. (five to ten) Wind Motika- Would like to see a “Tournament in Progress” sign purchased by Club and employed on particularly busy tourney days. Jeff Flake- Would like to see an “Etiquette” sign purchased and displayed on the first hole to help new players understand what is expected of them on the golf course in order to coexist better with existing players. -Has worked out an agreeable setup with Meredith Nichols for the days when the Monthly and Winter Warriors share space. Thank You Meredith! • Cisco Vargas- • River Dave Kenny- Plans to further address visibility issues at the Black Mtn Glow Event • Josh Easterling- Sponsorship form is done and is awaiting approval to begin use. Thank You Josh!! • Thom Williams- • Chris Bennett- New Business Casey Conner took time out of his busy schedule to share with the Board his plans to address recent problems with erosion. Black Mountain may be purchasing additional land which would allow for a reconfiguring of the front nine to allow for more room on Hole Nine. Finger Crossed!!! Thank You Casey Conner and the staff of Black Mountain Parks and Rec for your continued efforts!!!! Thom Williams to design Literature to be placed in the Richmond Hill kiosk to describe the other local courses and re-direct folks to them on particularly busy days Bret Moore and Tyler Wooddy volunteer to TD at upcoming ‘Masters League Singles Event“. “Toys for Tots” Tournament went terrific and the Club was able to raise a significantly bigger pile of toys to be donated as well as having a terrific time in the great weather!!! Attended by 43 players. Won by Fontana Lake’s Course Pro: Tim Mcgee followed by Bret Moore in second and Wes Mauney (The Mamba) in third. Good time for a great cause! Well done Cisco!!!
