WORD ALIVE … Bringing the relevance of God’s Word to our everyday life. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRANSFORMED BY GOD’S PRESENCE (Vol 2; No 197) When we seek God’s presence through His Word, in prayer, worship, fellowship and daily walk with Him, we are transformed by the Spirit of the Lord. Yes, the presence of God transforms life. His presence purifies life. It actually takes purity of life to stay in God’s presence. The Bible says, “Those whose hearts are pure … will see God” (Matthew 5:8 NLT). When we are before Him, His holy presence makes every sin in one’s life exposed. And for you to continue being in His presence the revealed sin must be dealt with. Habakkuk 1:13 says God is “…of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity,” (KJV). In Prophet Isaiah’s encounter with God in Isaiah chapter six, when he beheld the glory of God, he cried out, “… Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts,” (Isaiah 6:5 KJV). As soon as Isaiah acknowledged his sin and confessed them, God immediately dealt with it. Verses 6 and 7 of Isaiah chapter 6 said, “Then flew one of the Seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged,” (KJV). The Bible says, “If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin,” (1 John 1:6-7 NIV). As we tarry in His presence we become more like Him as we are transformed by the Spirit of the Lord. 2Corinthians 3:18 says “… We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord,” (KJV). The glory that emanates from His presence effects the transformation in our lives. In God’s presence you see yourself as God sees you. As you behold His glorious face in worship, the powerful reflection of His glory will be cast on you and will clearly illuminate your innermost being, giving you the true picture of yourself. You may never know yourself, as you ought to, until you have known God enough. That was the experience of Isaiah. He thought he had arrived. He thought he knew God, and that he was a force to reckon with as a Prophet amongst his people, until he met God one-on-one. That encounter with God changed his perception about God and transformed his life and ministry totally. We can have the kind of experience Isaiah had if we are willing to tarry in God’s presence as he did.
