WORSHIP SONG for SATURDAY - Just living a normal life on earth is filled with a certain measure of stress and for most people the stress is way more than average and the drama is consistently there. The stress, the drama, the overload of information, the non stop onslaught of negative news, financial challenges, health issues, dangers, broken relationships - it all adds up and saps us from a certain dynamic and a portion of our emotional, physical and spiritual energy and strength. Scientists tell us that many people are sleep deprived and thats probably true and a health issue. But I maintain that many, many people are deprived of spiritual rest and the consequences of that are manifold. And it seems that the hectic holidays add to this exponentially. We no sooner finish one holiday when another one looms large on the calendar and weve already been living it through the advertising industry. It wouldnt surprise me to see Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day and Fourth of July ads filling the papers and internet before Christmas someday! Were on a high speed sprint through life and the hours, days, weeks and months quickly pass us by and we become numb to the speed and intensity of it all. For the Follower of Jesus, we must hearken to His words, as found in the Gospels, when He said, Come unto Me all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you REST! And He also told His original disciples to Come apart and REST for a while! The One Who designed us knows us best and knows that we need REST. REST for our souls, our minds, our spirits and our physical bodies. And the One Who designed us knows how to provide that which we need.....REST! You dont need an expensive vacation to get it, you dont necessarily need time off your routine and you dont have to totally stop what you need to do, because His REST is available at a moments notice and is something He has already promised to do. Just a few minutes here and there in His Presence can refresh, renew and empower you. Five minutes can powerfully re-invigorate your spirit, renew your strength and revitalize your heart and mind. Start NOW, give this song a listen and sit quietly before the LORD. Ask Him to quiet your heart, clear your mind and rest your soul. You will be amazed at what He can do. Each day, throughout the hectic holidays, come apart for a while, pray, worship, meditate on His Word and instead of being stressed, you will be blessed! No better time to begin than now.....
