WTF? The Sons of the Confederacy have engaged in a battle with a group of local Jacksonville artists. Both groups are attempting to capture the rights to control the old Jacksonville Armory, a building located in Historic Springfield, which has been out of commission for sometime, and is in need of reconstruction. Jacksonville City Councilwoman Kim Daniels has appointed herself the best person to lead the charge for the Confederacy. When asked why she wanted to champion the Confederacys cause she said. if it wasnt for slavery, I would still be in Africa somewhere worshiping a tree. Jacksonville City Council President Bill Gulliford, however, came out in support of the artists saying, I remember 1861 very well, and think its best we avoid making the same mistake twice. We need less warmongering and more art The Kirby Brigade, a group aligned with the Confederacy, stated they disagreed with Gulliford. Their spokesman, Phinneas Longsmith said, We must win this battle because soon the damn Yankee northern aggressors on the Duval County School Board are going to change the name of Nathan Bedford Forrest High School. We see this as our last opportunity to have something with his name on it, and therefore we are proposing our museum be called the Nathan Bedford Forrest Imperial Wizard Museum of Southern Military Advancement. The museum would feature exhibits on famous war figures including the groups mascot--Kirby. According to Wikipedia, Kirby is a pink, small, spherical creature with large red feet, stubby arms, and trademark pink cheek-blushes. Kirbys main attack is inhaling enemies (both his mouth and body expand to allow him to inhale things much larger than himself) and swallowing them. He can also attack others by spitting enemies out as star-projectiles. Christian Parrish, head of the Springfield Ministerial Alliance, said,I will be praying for this to have a peaceful resolution. Mayor Alvin Brown, had no comment as usual, but was seen posing in front of the building for photographers with his bodyguards late Monday night.
