WW was pretty amazing, and I have a LOT of thank-yous to send out. For now though, I figure I can start by pointing out some of the talented and kind friends who helped me with various aspects of my elevation. Jean Hetzel helped with her handy-dandy 24 page guide, her constant support and aid, organizational skills, hemming the under-dress and finishing the sleeve ends, and her ninja-like handsewing of the cloak. The most Excellent Muriel LaRose did the embroidery on the cloak. I will seriously cherish this for the rest of my life, because it has your hand in it. Thank you. We have planz to do a baby-cloak for Davin, and to transfer your turtle embroidery to it. Kasia Gromek did AMAZING things to make me look nice - she researched what to do for my hair, and created all the headpieces (hair netting and fabric roll complete with hand-sewn pearls.) She also did dozens of hand-sewn eyelets on the under dress - even though no one would see them. And, of course, she made a period pie for the vigil, cause, you know, she wasnt busy enough. And she gave me shoes so I wouldnt stomp into Court in combat boots. A. Rebekah Turner made the pattern for the surcote, and originally made the pattern for the under-dress. She did pretty much all of the assembly of these pieces as well. And did everything on the lovely banners - which I treasure so much I refuse to roll them back up into tubes. Theyre hanging up in our basement. Sara Andrews sewed on what seems like MILES of edging, by hand, extremely quickly. And the buttons. She made sure the dress got to site safe and sound. I am in awe of both her skill and her generosity in sharing it with myself and many others. Eile Inghean Ailgheasaigh finished the bottom hem of the underdress, by hand. And she is the one doing the amazing scroll. Jeanie Davan helped with scroll text, and was an all-around awesome campmate, and helped me get the banner pole I needed. And these are just the friends who helped with dressing me - I havent even gotten to the wonderful souls who spoke for me, or made food for my vigil, or lent me wise words, or gave me gifts... I would be remiss if I did not mention Gretchen Tischer, who set up my vigil food & space, (with some help from Kat) magically making a wall from nowhere. (Well, not quite nowhere - actually on loan from Ingrid Frances Stark, who also made a beautiful medallion crafted with care and the grabby hands of a toddler in mind!) A very special gift came from Karen M. - A wubbie (blankie) for Davin. I believe hes curled up under it right now. As sweet as that is, her words and friendship are even more appreciated. I am just so very grateful that I found the SCA, and all the wonderful people therein. So many friends, (including my dear husband,) who I cant imagine life without. Thank you for everything you share, your skills and your kindnesses. Whether youve shared them with me, or with someone else entirely, you help weave the Dream. Thank you.
