Wabash Valley College will be offering a Food Service Sanitation course and a ServSafe class taught by Lisa Shook, an approved FSSMC instructor, using a core curriculum provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Those students receiving their one-year notices that have an IL FSSMC expiring in July, August, September, and October 2014 are eligible for the refresher course which means that their current certificate will be extended for five (5) more years. The refresher course will not be available after July 1, 2014. The class will meet on Monday, May 5 and Wednesday, May 7 from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. in Main Hall Room 205. Retraining Registration Requirement: Food Service Sanitation certification card must be brought to the class. Please bring a #2 pencil with eraser. Pre-Registration is required. Please call Student Services at 618-262-8641 by April 28 to reserve a seat for this class. The cost will be $35.00 if a student takes 4 credit hours or less in evening hours. After July 1, students will be eligible to take a ServSafe class which is a “certification” class. The student will need to purchase the ServSafe book in order to complete the test. The ServSafe book will have the required scantron for the National testing. This book can be purchased at the WVC Campus Store. The ServSafe class will meet on Monday and Wednesday, July 14 & 16 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. in Main Hall Room 205.
