Wabisah bin Mabad (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I went to Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and he asked me, Have you come to inquire about piety? I replied in the affirmative. Then he said, Consult your soul, consult your heart, O Wabisa. Piety is that which contents the soul and comforts the heart, and sin is that which causes doubts and perturbs the heart, even if people pronounce it lawful and give you verdicts on such matters again and again. - Narrated by Darimi, no. 2453 and he declared this hadeeth as marfoo, classed as hasan by Imam Nawawi in his tahqeeq of Riyadh as Saliheen, no. 254 and in al adhkaar, no. 504 and al-arbain an-nawawiyah, no. 27.
