Walgreens announced today that it wont pursue a tax inversion which is a perfectly legal maneuver under our current tax code. One of the stated reasons is that too many Democrat politicians have raised a fuss over this. apnews.excite/article/20140806/us--walgreen-overseas_move-2bcb255327.html One of those Democrat politicians was Pres. Obama who (rather ironically) denounced this action to save taxes while at a Democratic Party fund raiser where he is reported to have said: Even as corporate profits are higher than ever, there’s a small but growing group of big corporations that are fleeing the country to get out of paying taxes,” Obama said. They’re technically renouncing their U.S. citizenship, they’re declaring their base someplace else even though most of their operations are here. You know some people are calling these companies corporate deserters.” news.yahoo/obama-presses-close-corporate-tax-loophole-inversions-100425575--business.html Query -- is it right for a politician, in particular the President (especially at a fund raiser) to criticize a business for doing something legal?
