Walk Around Old Town: Started from the sidewalk in front of Teaism - TopicsExpress

Walk Around Old Town: Started from the sidewalk in front of Teaism at 628 St Asaph; we made a big counter-clockwise circuit of Old Town. Crossed under the railroad tracks at Braddock Road, headed southwest to check out where Fort Ellsworth once stood, enjoyed a panoramic view of Old Town from in front of the Masonic Temple, and then worked our way to the waterfront along Wilkes. At the waterfront, we turned north and followed the shoreline to Founders Park, with a short break at the Torpedo Factory. From Founders Park, walked west along Oronoco St to St Asaph, turned right, and returned to our starting point. The walk was an easy 5 miles of smiles and took about 2 hours. Paved throughout, with an uphill stretch onto Shuters Hill but otherwise easy going. Passed my HS (GW), my elementary school (Maury), Walnut Hill, the house I grew up in on King St., and where I live now near the Alexandria National Cemetery... Thanks Nena L. Kobayashi for the turtles! Cheers, sky
