Walking And Stalking A great blue heron along the shoreline. Back Bay, Biloxi, Mississippi. When a photographer looks through the viewfinder, he should ask yourself, What is the subject of this image? If there are doubts or if he doesnt know, he should not press the shutter button. Every well made image should have a subject. It should be simple and emphasized by everything in the frame. There is no doubt that the blue heron is the subject of this image. Its a simple image, with minimal visual information which shows all that is necessary to convey the scene. I isolated the heron against the soft blue bay water which tells the viewer about the environment. Vertical framing was used to eliminate distracting items in the background and to emphasize the tallness and shape of the bird. Rather than bullseye the heron in the center of the frame, I placed it in the left side of the image leaving room for him to step within the frame. Just thought you like to know some of the things I think about when making an image. Enjoy!
