Wallace has many claims to fame, this is just one. Not so unusual - TopicsExpress

Wallace has many claims to fame, this is just one. Not so unusual in mining, railroad and lumber mill towns throughout the west, just one of the few that was honest about it. I could name many towns and cities where many of those who laughed at and teased us hail from, but that is their embarrassment, not ours. Rooms and their owners were fined for the laws they broke. Wallace had paved alleys, newer police cars and firetrucks thanks to these fines. Attacks and rapes were unheard of in a very high ratio of miners to women/ girls in town. Most rapes that were reported were the girlfriend/boyfriend couples who got caught by a parent. Funny how most of those were settled by a wedding. We were safe in our little town. I can only speak for myself, but I remember the high school band uniforms being bought and paid for by Delores. (You can see once of them on the wall in this tour.) Wallace was able to march in a large invitational parade in their new uniforms. I bet few of you knew just how many families who hit hard times were sent large cash amount to pay for medical bills, food, heating oil or coal or even to pay for a headstone and funeral for a family at a time of extreme grief over the loss of a mother. I say thank you Delores, Ginger, and many others who chose to do their business behind closed doors, not sell their wares on the street. Wallace had no rape, no street walkers, and no worries until the Big FBI raid. Even when 60 minutes did a story on this den of sin know as Wallace ID, few residents were happy to see things changed. Let any town without vice and corruption say what they need to, but I think few would qualify. I am proud to be from Wallace ID. Stop in and see the bordello, visit the mining museum and all the wonderful antique shops. It is a great place to visit, was even better to grow up in. It is, after all, the center of the Universe.
