Wallacetoun Afc progressed in to the 4th round of the west of Scotland cup after defeating fellow ayrshire side Drumley AFC in penalties. The toun were at full strength today and had a 16 man squad however it was a very poor performance that saw missed chances nearly costing them their place in the cup. Toun went in front through Steven Glass In the first half but Drumley equalised in the 33rd minute after a strike inside the box. McLean then restored the touns advantage after the interval to put the home side 2-1 in front. Although the toun were poor they had chances to extend their lead but poor finishing from inside the box and a missed penalty from McLean kept the score at 2-1. Drumley tried to use the strong wind to their advantage and tested tait in the goals with a strike from inside the box and also a chip from outside the area. The pressure finally paid off tho when they got their equaliser 4 mins from time when the striker reacted first to the ball dropping 5 yards out and poked it by tait. The toun used all their subs in extra time to try and get an edge in the game but it was Drumley who went in front first when a short corner was crossed in to the box and the striker blasted home from 6 yards. Unconvincing toun huffed n puffed in what could be described as their worst performance of the season and it was Drumley who capitalised on this when they went two in front after a great strike from the edge of the box in to the bottom corner. With 5 mins to go in the first half of extra time toun pulled one back when Colin roach blasted in to the far corner. The toun tried for the equaliser and they got their goal when centre half Nicky Warren s unstoppable header levelled the game. With the match tied after extra time it was to be decided in penalties and it was the toun who came out eventual winners after Craig Sloan & Mark Simmy Simpson Missed and Steph McNeil, Nicky warren,Colin roach and Craig Irvine scoring. Drumley missed one and Jamie Tait Saved two to send the home side through to the next round. Drumley will feel they were hard done to after a good performance most noteably keeper Crissy Brady who had an outstanding game.
