Warning of possible scam. About half an hour ago I received a call from a middle aged sounding man claiming to be from Visa and saying they were about to send me a new card. I have two Visa cards from different banks. He didnt say to which card he was referring. He asked me to confirm my name and address, which he already had, and when I said this was an unusual procedure, he said it was a new system and I had been sent an email. When I asked him to repeat that information, he rang off. I suspect his next move would have been to ask me for my card number. When I did a 1471, the caller had of course witheld their number. I checked with the most likely of the two providers, they confirmed they had not sent me an email, had made no such phone call and were not about to send me a new card. The bank in question assured me they would never ask for a full number, either phone number or card number. There wasnt a lot they could do, though I warned them and am warning you, if you get any such call, it is almost certainly a scam, ring off and check with your provider - even though getting through is the most boring and long winded procedure! It took me nearly an hour.
