Warning ..rap talk I dont argue Hip Hop anymore because time and experience have taught me that is really a case of subjectivity. There are things I like and dont like because of my experiences. Ive lived thru every genre of the culture except the beginning stages in the Bronx ( pre recording) but I have always maintained that if you really want some interesting talk about Hip Hop music talk to a guy in my general age bracket from the south because there you have someone who enveloped the music with no stake or claim of a coast and everything was our music. We knew basic difference but it didnt matter. No difference between Run Dmc and the 2 Live Crew or NWA and De La Soul or Rakim and Too Short etc..the difference was the style of music but it was all beats and rhymes and we bought , supported and loved all of it! Just being b-boys was important so I dont go the purist route in the sense of snobbery because I can remember when Scarface, Bun B and Outkast werent hip hop darlings like they are now. They had to fight for that respect and well desreved earned it. My favorite album this year is RUN THE JEWELS by Killer Mike and El P. ..thats New York / Atlanta so my point is I just ..be..when it comes to this ..I love the culture period!
