Warning* you may want to scroll past if your not ready for a long read.... First of all Happy Birthday to my Jonathan Williams,my first best gift I have ever received. He is 18 today and by law (with a giant lump in my throat) a man. The last few years have been a little harder knowing these days at home are fewer and as the time seems to rush by faster though Im sure thats not the case. I remember the positive test of pregnancy with him and the fear that came with it like it was yesterday. Just a 15 year old girl and a 17 year old boyfriend, we hardly knew what those short months before his birth were holding for us. I once heard it said, when you have a child, you become frame not the picture. How true those words would be. We married and welcomed that baby and brought him to a little apartment of our own. It was one of the hardest things we have ever done. He has lived a thousand lives with us and for that Im not proud, but I do remember that he was known about before the beginning of time. Just as Mary was chosen to give birth as a child and a virgin because she was righteous in Gods eyes and he equipped her for the task. No matter your age or situation you can overcome the consequence for your actions with grace and strength from God. My mother was 34 when he was born and has loved children and babysat since I can remember. After the initial news, we accepted the fact that all children are a gift. Jason immediately went to work and I finished high school with a toddler and much help from our families. Jonathan has always been an energetic caring soul. He always has a beaming smile and genuinely cares about how your doing when he asks. He has been in leadership clubs, volunteered at underprivileged summer camps, and has worked for elderly. He has been worshipping our Savior through music and preaching behind a potato box since before he could talk clearly. He taught himself to play piano and has saved all year to attend music camps for Christian artists to impart knowledge and wisdom for his dreams to pursue a future in worship. He is one of the most kindhearted tender souls Ive had the privilege to raise and nurture. I cannot say that its all been peachy, he is a real teenager, but its been a blessing to me either way. He has taught us more than we will ever teach him. Im so glad to know that God can take an unfortunate mess and pour blessings on a family through the love of a child. He can heal hearts broken and he can call those who submit themselves as willing vessels to Him. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this sweet boy....or man. Whew! Thats hard. Happy 18th my sweet boy!!! I never knew true love until you and I love you more each passing day! Cool thing is We are young enough to still be cool! At least thats what we think 😉
