Was in Brooklyn Heights this past weekend, when I had a rude awakening. Walking past a bar on Montague, heard some good music and stopped to watch and listen through a large window. A jazz quartet playing standards, really well. There were 4 people in the bar, all sitting really really close to the band, but each with their backs turned watching TV, while the band kept playing with lots of gusto in spite of being ignored. I was tempted to take a picture of the scene, but didnt need to capture this moment visually ..... its already permanently etched in my memory bank as an odd experience.
